FITZROVIA POST · PRODUCER’S GUIDE

A clear brief.
A better start.

Tell us what you are making, where the production stands and what has to be delivered. We can then scope the right recording or post-production work.

This guide helps producers prepare an enquiry for voice recording, ADR, sound post or picture finishing at Fitzrovia Post in London. Your producer will agree technical requirements for the actual project.

A recording session or a finished production?

A voice session captures a performance. Sound post may also involve dialogue editing, restoration, sound design, Foley and mixing. Picture finishing may include conform, online editing, colour grading, quality control and delivery. Ask for the stages you need; a room booking does not automatically include all of them.

Prepare a voice or ADR session.

Send the script or cue requirements, number of performers, preferred dates and expected session length. Explain the performance brief and provide useful pronunciation or creative references. For ADR, share the picture reference and how the cues are organised so the producer can prepare the session.

Tell us who will direct and whether anyone is joining remotely. Fitzrovia Post supports Source-Connect and Cleanfeed; agree the platform, participants and connection requirements in advance.

Confirm what happens after recording: file formats, naming, selected takes, editing and transfer. If your own editor needs the recorded material, say so. If you need a finished soundtrack, include that as a separate part of the brief.

See our voice and ADR service and its documented UK voice-recording credit for Terminator Zero.

Agree the turnover before exporting.

For sound post, start with the running time, episode count, picture reference, available production audio and edit stage. Explain whether the picture is locked or changes are expected. Agree project/session exports, media, handles, timecode and reference requirements with the producer rather than relying on a generic export preset.

For picture finishing, include source formats, project or turnover format, creative references and required versions. Flag any missing material, graphics or expected changes so they can be considered when scoping the conform and delivery.

Supply the delivery specifications from the broadcaster, distributor, platform or client. Confirm required mix formats, masters, stems and versions for your particular project. Technical targets depend on the destination; there is no single specification for every production.

Fitzrovia Post can coordinate sound post and picture finishing. Our published audio-post credits include We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and The Amazing World of Gumball; explore the project evidence on the sound service page.

Make reviews part of the schedule.

Include your review dates, approval contact and final deadline. Identify who consolidates feedback and which versions need separate approval. Ask the producer to confirm the included review scope and how additional rounds, versions or edit changes will be handled.

A late change can affect both sound and picture. Share the revised edit stage and deadline rather than assuming the original quote and schedule still cover it. We agree the work with you before it proceeds.
